Our latest achievement, the ECSTA HS52, stands as a testament to this belief.

Recently, the ECSTA HS52 excelled in one of Europe’s toughest tyre tests, conducted by the leading German automobile club, ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club). This test is renowned for its rigorous standards and comprehensive evaluation, making it a significant milestone for any tyre manufacturer.

The ADAC Test: A Benchmark of Excellence

The ADAC test is a rigorous examination that evaluates tyres on various critical parameters to ensure they meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and sustainability. In this year's test, the ECSTA HS52 was pitted against 215/55R17 tyres from 16 different manufacturers, including some of the most prestigious names in the industry. The testing process used a Volkswagen T-Roc and focused on two key criteria: ‘driving safety’ and ‘environmental balance’.

Driving Safety: This criterion assesses the tyre's performance on wet and dry roads, emphasising grip, handling, and braking efficiency. The ECSTA HS52 demonstrated exceptional performance, ensuring maximum safety and control for drivers.

Environmental Balance: This includes factors such as mileage, wear resistance, fuel efficiency, noise levels, and sustainability. The ECSTA HS52 showcased remarkable endurance and efficiency, making it an ideal choice for environmentally conscious drivers.

Superior Performance and Technological Prowess

The ECSTA HS52 finished third overall in the ADAC test. This achievement marks the highest ranking of any Korean tyre brand in the test, underscoring the superior quality and performance of Kumho Tyres.

The success of the ECSTA HS52 can be attributed to its advanced design and innovative features. The tyre is available in a range of sizes to fit both sedans and SUVs, making it versatile and suitable for a wide array of vehicles. One of the standout features is its robust tread pattern, which ensures consistently high levels of grip. This design not only enhances safety but also delivers a quiet, smooth, and comfortable ride, even on challenging road conditions.

Moreover, the tyre’s powerful, rigid shoulder blocks significantly enhance steering performance, providing drivers with precise control and stability. This combination of features ensures that the ECSTA HS52 meets the high expectations of drivers who demand safety, comfort, and performance.

A Commitment to Continuous Improvement

Seonghak Song, Senior Vice-President of Passenger Car Tyre Development at Kumho Tyres, highlighted the significance of this achievement. He stated, “The outstanding test result from an organisation with significant influence in Europe and around the world demonstrates the technological prowess of Kumho Tyres.

It also serves as a testament to our competitiveness in Korea and beyond. We will continue to enhance our Research & Development activities to strengthen Kumho’s position as a trusted brand in the marketplace.”

This commitment to research and development is a core aspect of Kumho Tyres' philosophy. By continuously investing in advanced technologies and innovative solutions, we aim to maintain our position as a leading global tyre manufacturer. Our goal is to provide customers with products that offer unparalleled safety, performance, and value.

Recognition Beyond ADAC

The ECSTA HS52 has also garnered recognition from other prestigious institutions. In a recent braking safety test conducted by Auto Bild, one of the most respected European motoring magazines, the ECSTA HS52 finished second out of 55 tyres. The test involved 205/55R16 size tyres, which are the most frequently purchased fitment for the popular European compact car segment. This achievement further reinforces the ECSTA HS52's reputation as a top-performing tyre in terms of safety and reliability.

A leading German tyre industry website has judged Kumho Tyre’s brand new Ecsta PS72 Sport as amongst the three top tyres in a wide spread performance tyre comparison test in Europe. Die Reifentester , which is a major German tyre website, whose name translates to “The Tyre Testers” used identical Volkswagen Golf GTIs to judge critical performance, safety and handling of eight of Europe’s best selling 225/40 ZR18 size performance tyres. The tests were overseen by leading tyre tester and former tyre developer Dirk Vincken, along with experienced motoring journalist Joachim Fischer, with the team comparing the tyres at the ATP proving ground at Papenburg in Germany. The Kumho Ecsta PS72 Sport was one of only three tyres, and the only non-European tyre in the comparison to be badged as “very good”. The testers said the Kumho performed well across the board, earning it the “very good” overall rating. Four of the seven tyres in the comparison were European manufactured, while there were two from Korean makers and one from Japan. The Kumho Ecsta PS72 Sport shared the winners’ podium with two European tyres, as the Kumho impressed in all disciplines, with good to very good results, and despite being amongst the least expensive tyres in the test.
